Filters
An important component in maintaining fresh, healthy and safe pool water, a sand filter receives pumped in water at the top of the chamber which gets worked down through the filter. Dirt and debris is trapped in between the sand particles during this process with clean water then being returned to the pool as a result.
Sand Filters need to be cleaned regularly with a process called ‘back washing’ wherein water is re-routed up through the sand bed where the dirt is flushed out before going out to waste. Sand Filters feature a multiport valve which is used to change the direction of water flow to enable for back washing.
Multiport valves are either top or side mounted with the latter usually featuring a design with a top mounted glass dome so that water can be visibly seen.
